MESSAGE FOR EDUCATION SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 8, 2019

Greetings My Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

Our theme for this academic year is ‘Form and Flourish – to Re-form.’

Through education, we are moulded or formed to flourish in life, and at the start of the new school year, our learners are ready to engage with new knowledge, ideas, and experiences. We encourage each learner to grasp the opportunities that will be made available to them. May each person strive to display their best behaviour, focused attention, and preparation to ensure that they get the most out of each day’s lessons.

Our learners rely on us their parents, teachers, principals, school boards, and all support staff and the church to be the agents through whom God will act to direct them on the right path. We are the bearers not just of academic instruction, but the patience, generosity, good behaviour, morals, and character that will form our learners into the well-rounded individuals we desire them to become. We must model these qualities for our learners in every aspect of our lives. Through our actions, our learners will see the practical application of the qualities we are inviting them to develop.

Our children need our support at every stage of the learning process. They face many distractions, fears, and challenges and may fall away from accomplishing their best. Let us not abandon them on their journey but be ready to offer them guidance and care throughout their lives. Some of our children may act inappropriately at home and in school, may we not dismiss them as disruptive, but rather seek to identify what they are trying to tell us and with loving care address their needs and concerns. These temporary setbacks present an opportunity for us to assist our learners to get back on their feet, learn, and be strengthened by their experiences and move to new levels of learning, this is the process of ‘re-forming’ that we propose should be engaged whenever it is required, so that every learner is sustained in their growth.

As schools associated with the church, we are tasked with sharing the Good News of God’s unconditional love and steadfast faithfulness with every stakeholder. It is God who must guide us as we journey through the triumphs and the challenges of the year. May we seek to transform every learner’s life with both academic and spiritual nurture and together form strong individuals who will build our communities and country.

I wish for you all God’s blessing for the 2019 school year.

Yours in Christ,
Natalie Blake (Rev.)
