The focus for Church Army, Jamaica and The Cayman Islands for the Year 2018 was to grow the Church Army to provide Officers in each Deanery of the Diocese to be able to fulfil the charge to carry the Gospel to all, throughout this Diocese.
Assoc Evangelists in Training :
With the commissioning of the last cohort of 11 in December 2017, the recruitment drive started in earnest and interviews began in June in the Montego Bay and Kingston Regions. 33 Applicants were accepted from the Regions as follows :
Montego Bay Region: Westmoreland 2: Hanover 2: Trelawny 2 :
St James 3: =9
Kingston Region: Kingston 5: St Andrew 13: St Catherine 4:
St Thomas 2:=24
Training commenced in September 2018 and will be completed in July 2020. Followed by a Commissioning Service, after which they will return to their respective Cures to do the work of an Evangelist within their Cure.
On the Move
Twenty-Five Students of the ” Associate Evangelist Programme” from the Kingston Region travelled to join their 8 peers from the Montego Bay Region at the St James Parish Church for training.
