Bishops of the Church in the Province of the West Indies carry the casket with the remains of the late Bishop of Jamaica, The Rt. Rev. the Hon. Dr. Neville deSouza to its final resting place. Bishop deSouza was buried yesterday (December 29) in the St. Andrew Parish Church Cemetery following a Mass of the Resurrection at which the Archbishop of the West Indies, the Most Rev. Dr. and the Hon. John Holder, presided.
The 12th Bishop of the Diocese, Bishop deSouza led the local Church from 1979-2000. The Bishop, whose contribution to the life of the Nation was recognised by the Government which conferred him with the National Honour, the Order of Jamaica, was accorded an Official Funeral.
