“Therefore, we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”
(2 Corinthians 4:16-17)
Take a Moment to Ponder
What issues are weighing us down at this time? What is it that we may be anxious about? For many of our students, it may be internal or external examinations, and for persons in need of a job, the concern may be, how is it that they will meet their monthly expenses and provide food for their children? Whatever may be the issue, we are reminded that we serve a living God, and so we can be confident of the unending love that God has for us as a people, and so will always be there to help us through the challenges that we face.
This is why we are assured in 2 Corinthians 4:16 to never lose heart. God will always come through for us, and so even though, “…outwardly, we are wasting away…” by the stresses and pressures of life, we are constantly being renewed and rejuvenated day by day, by our loving God. This is where we find the inner strength to press on in the midst of our circumstances, as the problems that we face are temporal. We can therefore rest assured, that one day they will come to end.
Also, even as we go through these trying and testing times, let us not forget that they are preparing us for an eternal glory. Challenges in life can only shape us into stronger persons, thus helping us to become more resilient in our faith and also appreciate God’s presence in our lives during those difficult times. So, do not give up when life gets rocky. God loves us and will always be there for us. God’s grace and mercy will always take us through the storms of life.
Practical Action
Never give up during trying times. Out of the difficult situations we face, God’s light shall shine. Be confident in the reality that we serve a God who loves us, and so will aways make a way.
A Moment in Prayer
Faithful and righteous God, You promised to never leave us nor forsake us. You promised to always be there, even when the struggles of life seem overwhelming. May we always remember that You love us, and so as your children, we need not be anxious nor doubtful; we need not fear, because You are with us every step of the way, and this we ask through the Name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.
